Add a folder to a Namespace
- On the host create a directory of the same name as your namespace but append _share, this is where the data will be stored.
Note
This directory needs to be shared out, if it is not shared already via inheritance
- In DFS Manager right click your namespace and "New Folder..."
- Name it the same _share again, press "Add"
- Select your folder that was created in step 1.
- Press "done"
Migrating a non-replicated folder
- Create a directory named the same as the source
- Share the directory
- Use emcopy, robocopy, rsync, etc to copy the data from the old hosts _Share to the new hosts _Share. These tools are used to preserve atime and other attributes.
- This can be done by navigating to
\\server\d$\
whered$
is the drive letter holding the shares.
- This can be done by navigating to
- Add the new directory as a new folder target by right clicking the folder listed under your specific Namespace
- Remove the old folder target from the folder
